LKC Straight Skirt Tour

I am so excited to be part of this special celebration for Little Kiwis Closet. Hitting 5000 members is quite the accomplishment. Congratulations!

My little helper and I decided to celebrate our way by stitching the newly released skirt, free with code from the Facebook Group. The Straight Skirt was perfect for this knit fabric I had stashed away, honestly I just was afraid to use it before due to all the stripe matching involved.

I highly recommend printing your pattern pieces in color so the sizes and cut lines for waist and hem are easier to see. If thats not an option I would highlight your size before cutting the pattern.

The Straight Skirt ranges in sizes from 12 months to 14 years. The options available will leave you with nearly endless possibilities. First, there is the yoga or elastic waist, our favorite being the yoga waistband. Second, this pattern has two pocket options, both are easy to assemble. Third, two hem options of banded or folded up. Last, the length has the option of above or below the knee. You can even find out how to add the Kaboodle Shorts here.

I chose a size 5 without the need for grading, the fold up hem, and short length with the yoga band. Of course pockets.

She couldn't wait to try it on for a few pictures, and wouldn't take her hands out of the pockets no matter the bribe. The fit was perfect throughout the waist, and the short length ended up just below her knees, but she is on the shorter side.

You can even see how well it fits while she is pulling on the pockets.

I had a lot of fun sewing this skirt and see many more in our future. Please be sure to check out the other reviews of this great skirt from the rest of the tour.

The Glorious Eleni

As with her namesake Helen of Troy, known as an amazingly beautiful and glorious woman, the Eleni by DesignerStitch will more than stand up to that reputation.

I had the honor of testing this pattern and knew immediately which option I desired. My only fear was locating a fabric that would bring out the vision that was imprinted in my thoughts. I wanted this top to be the most beautiful I have done yet, and I succeeded.

My fabric literally jumped out at me while on a trip to Joann's for something else. I found a gorgeous mostly sheer print in the Famous Maker section that absolutely was the only choice for me, and the perfect complementary trim for the tiered sleeve option I chose.

I do not own many tops I feel sexy in, but this one made it to the top my date night list. I got endless compliments the entire night, even through the next day.

As with all the patterns by DesignerStitch, the instructions for the Eleni
were just as easy to follow. The pattern has layers for easy printing and ranges from size (US) 2-22.

There are several options available in the Eleni pattern. You can make a top, tunic, dress, or maxi with or without a flounce. There are 4 different sleeve options, along with 2 modesty options as well. This pattern is full of endless opportunity during warmer or cooler months.

DesignerStitch has the Eleni on sale for $8.50 for the release. Please be sure to grab a copy while at the discounted price. It won't last long, and you will not be disappointed.

Women's Andover Pullover and Jacket

I may live in sunny California, but it is not always the warmest up here in the northern part of the state. It's also a bit temperamental, for example yesterday we had beautiful Spring high 70's weather, and today it is supposed to start to rain for a couple days. What is a girl to do when it is time to put the bulky Winter coat away? My solution was the adorable and warm Woman's Andover by New Horizon's

I used a soft fleece that I found at Joann's during a really great sale they had, and at the moment they are currently 50% off again until April 12th, so a perfect time to run and grab some for this perfect pullover.

The Andover offers you a few options for the design to suit your needs. I chose the fully lined zip up version, but there is also a version with just a lined hood, or an unlined pullover with binding. The pockets too, they keep my hands warmer than my Winter coat ever could.

The fabric recommendations include Flannel, Fleece, Poly-blend, Woven Cotton, Twill, Corduroy, Stable Knit, and Sweatshirt Fleece. They all come in a large variety of options leaving you with an almost endless supply of fabric choices to satisfy your creativity and fill your warmth needs depending on season.

This was the first time I ever tried sewing a hood, and lined at that, I was a little intimated. The instructions and illustrations in the New Horizon's pattern quickly alleviated that concern. They show in great detail how to piece together all versions of this design, even down to the zipper installation. Hopefully you find this pattern as easy to follow as I did.

This Andover Jacket will keep me warm through the chilly Spring times, and even into Fall. I could not be happier to have a me made jacket that fits so perfectly.
